Strategic Pillars
Through outreach and engagement with neighborhood stakeholders, four priority goals emerged as pillars that serve to frame the Deep Ellum Public Improvement District Strategic Plan. From a vast array or interests, hopes and concerns, these were the key themes that arose and were mentioned time and again. Between 2019 and 2025, the Deep Ellum Foundation is focusing on achieving the broad goals outlined below.

Deep Ellum has been rich with history in it s near-150 years and is the birthplace of North Texas blues. Today, it’s full of amazing experiences in arts, culture, retail, food and beverage, entertainment and more around every corner. We want to help you discover everything Deep Ellum has to offer!

Deep Ellum Designated as a Cultural District
The Texas Commission on the Arts has named Deep Ellum one of the state's newest Cultural Districts. The Deep Ellum Cultural District is only the second such district in Dallas, next to the Dallas Arts District. With its historic, artistic and cultural significance, this designation is well deserved and opens the door for local businesses to access grants and other opportunities supporting the arts and cultural development.
